Sometimes to make it in Hollywood, you gotta have Colin Farrell bite your neck first. So forgive this particular 26-year-old for her early exit in the new 3-D remake of Fright Night, but Emily Montague is busy becoming the next Vinny Chase. Or Doug Ellin.

http://www.gizmogroove.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/emilie-de-ravin-3.jpg
Her first starring role was on the fantasy drama, "BeastMaster" (1999). When her agent told her of a role in the US, as newcomer Tess in the hit series "Roswell" (1999), she flew out and auditioned. After landing the role, she was written out of "BeastMaster" (1999) and started work as "Tess", an alien. She relocated to California and was on "Roswell" (1999) before she even owned an apartment.

After 2 years on the show, she then made notable guest appearances in "CSI: Miami" (2002) and "The Handler" (2003).

She stayed in TV, playing the bad girl Chris in Carrie (2002) (TV), a movie made for TV. She also changed genres, starring in Santa's Slay (2005), a black comedy.

Emilie has shown her versatility by branching out into film, making her debut at Sundance 2005 with the the award-winning indie film Brick (2005). She starred in the remake The Hills Have Eyes (2006) in 2006, which debuted at No.1 in the UK box office.

She was on the Emmy-award winning ABC series "Lost" (2004), playing "Claire", a young Australian who gave birth on the mysterious island and has a close relationship with "Charlie", played by Dominic Monaghan.

Emilie lives in California with her dogs, Bella and Mabel. In 2007 she separated from husband Josh Janowicz but Emilie confirmed on the 28 April 2008 episode of the Opie and Anthony Show on XM Radio that she is still, in fact, happily married

De Ravin was born in Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia, an outer southeastern suburb of Melbourne.[8] Having studied ballet since the age of nine at Christa Cameron School of Ballet in Melbourne, and being home schooled by her mother, she was accepted into the Australian Ballet School at fifteen. There, she performed in productions with The Australian Ballet as well as Danceworld 301.[9] Ravin studied acting at Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art,[2] and with the Prime Time Actors Studio in Los Angeles.[10]

Career

Emilie de Ravin at 2007 MuchMusic Video Awards.
De Ravin's first major role was a recurring part as Curupira in the TV series Beastmaster.[11] She went on to appear as alien/human hybrid Tess Harding in the teen television series, Roswell.[12] She landed this role one month after moving to Los Angeles at the age of 18.[9][13] In 2004, de Ravin was cast to portray Claire Littleton on the hit ABC drama Lost. In answer to if she expected the success of Lost, de Ravin said: "It's sort of hard to say. You read something and have a good feeling about it, it sounds great, ties nicely together and then shooting something, editing it, the music, the actors involved, everything sort of plays a huge part. Everyone involved had a great feeling towards it, but you never really know".[14] De Ravin was a series regular for the first four seasons, but did not return as a series regular for the fifth season. She returned as a regular in the sixth and final season.[15]

In 2005, de Ravin was cast to portray Emily Kostich, the heroin-addicted ex-girlfriend of Brendan Frye (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), in the neo-noir film Brick. In an interview about the film, Ravin told that she was attracted by the script because it was original and the teens in the film are very deep and emotional for their age.[16] A year later, de Ravin had a lead role and was cast as Brenda Carter in the remake of The Hills Have Eyes. The film performed well at the box office. In 2007, Variety reported that she would be starring in the film Ball Don't Lie,[17][18] which premiered at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival, which arrived in cinemas early 2009. De Ravin will appear in William Dear's The Perfect Game,[19] and appeared in the 2009 film Public Enemies as a bank teller named Barbara Patzke.[20]
De Ravin was cast in the movie adaption of the video game Onimusha, but due to producer Samuel Hadida's other project The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, and star Heath Ledger's death, Hadida was forced to push back the release date of the film. Onimusha is postponed for an unknown amount of time and there is not any confirmation if de Ravin will continue the project.[21]
de Ravin at 2012 San Diego Comic-Con International
De Ravin filmed Remember Me in the summer of 2009. The film received its wide release on 12 March 2010. She was a regular on the sixth and final season of Lost. In 2012 she guest-starred as Belle on the ABC drama Once Upon a Time.[22] After sporadic appearances in the first season, she was promoted to a series regular in the second.[3]
De Ravin stars in the Finnish film, Love and Other Troubles, directed by Samuli Valkama. Film tells the story of Ville (Jussi Nikkilä) and his father (Ville Virtanen), who both fall in love with the same woman, played by de Ravin.
De Ravin was to star as Anthony LaPaglia's daughter in the new drama series Americana in 2012, but ABC passed on the pilot.[23]

Personal life

After three years of dating, actor Josh Janowicz proposed to de Ravin on New Year's Day 2005 in Melbourne, which she said "was very impromptu and very sweet".[12][24] Ravin met Janowicz in Los Angeles, and said that "our life together always comes before work. You can't buy love or family."[11] While filming Lost, de Ravin flew to and from Hawaii "once or twice a week" to return to her home in Burbank, California, which she shared with Janowicz and their poodle, Bella de Maria, named after a childhood friend.[12] The couple married 19 June 2006 in Melbourne, Australia.[24] They separated six months after they married, and then reconciled. In June 2009, it was reported that they were living separately and had filed for divorce.[25] In October 2009, she called off the divorce after a trip to Japan with her husband.

Elle Macpherson

Elle Macpherson (born 29 March, either 1963 or 1964) is an Australian businesswoman, television host, model, and actress. She is well known for her record five cover appearances for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue beginning in the 1980s, leading to her nickname "The Body". She is also known as the founder primary model and creative director for a series of business ventures, including Elle Macpherson Intimates, a lingerie line, and The Body, a line of skin care products. In 2010, she became the host and executive producer of Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model. She is currently an executive producer of NBC's Fashion Star and was the host for the first season.

http://www.hairstyleshaircut.net/photos/Elle-Macpherson-hairstyles-5.jpgMacpherson was born Eleanor Nancy Gow in Killara, New South Wales, the daughter of entrepreneur and sound engineer Peter Gow, a former president of a Sydney rugby league team, the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, and Frances Gow, a nurse.[2] Macpherson's parents divorced when she was 10 years old, and she moved with her mother and two siblings. Her mother later remarried, and a clerical mistake in registering at her new school meant that her surname was changed from Gow to Macpherson (her stepfather's surname).[3][4]
Macpherson grew up in East Lindfield, a suburb in the affluent North Shore of Sydney, and attended Killara High School, completing her Higher School Certificate in 1981. She briefly studied law for one year at the University of Sydney. Macpherson has a sister, businesswoman and environmentalist Mimi Macpherson, also known as Miriam Frances Gow.[5]

Career

Macpherson enrolled to study law at Sydney University. Before beginning her university studies, she visited the United States to spend one year doing modelling work in order to earn money to pay for her law books.[6] She traveled to New York City, where she initially signed up with Click Model Management. Her modeling career began in 1982 with a television commercial for Tab which established her as a "girl next door" figure in Australia.[7]
In 1986, Time magazine had already put her on the cover (with a feature entitled "The Big Elle") but by that time, she had also appeared on the covers of Cosmopolitan, Elle, GQ, Harper's Bazaar and Vogue.[8] She cemented her high profile through frequent appearances in Elle, where she appeared in every issue for six straight years. During that time, at the age of 21, she married Gilles Bensimon, the creative director of Elle.[9]

Eventually she garnered more exposure through Sports Illustrated magazine's annual Swimsuit Issue. She appeared on the cover a record five times: 1986, 1987, 1988, 1994, and 2006. Along with Naomi Campbell, she co-hosted the Miss Universe 2001 pageant. Her popularity had reached such a level that Australian government offered her a position on its tourist commission as an unofficial ambassador.[10]
After appearing nude in the 1994 film Sirens, Macpherson learned that the media had begun searching for nude photos of her, including contacting her ex-boyfriends. To address this, Macpherson appeared in a nude pictorial in the May 1994 issue of Playboy magazine, in order to produce nude photos "on her own terms".[11] Macpherson returned to the runway in 2010 to close the fall Louis Vuitton show for Marc Jacobs in Paris.[12]

Business career

Macpherson in September 2008 at Fashion Fest
In the 1980s, together with Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Tatjana Patitz, Naomi Campbell, Pavlína Pořízková, and Cindy Crawford, Macpherson became part of the new generation of supermodels.[13] In 1989 she was given the nickname Elle "The Body" Macpherson by Time Magazine after she appeared on their cover. She went on to use the name in a number of business ventures.[14]
In 1994, she left her agency, Ford Models, to form her own company, Elle Macpherson Inc., which would serve as the financial organizational base for her later endeavours.[13] She soon went on to produce her own highly popular series of calendars, each of which was accompanied by a "making of" television program in 1992, 1993, and 1994. She used this success as a springboard to create the "Your Personal Best – The Body" series of workout videos.[13]
She later diversified her portfolio of businesses, and in 1990 launched her lingerie collection 'Elle Macpherson Intimates' in partnership with Bendon Limited Apparel. Intimates met with remarkable international success, becoming the single best-selling lingerie line in both Great Britain[15] and Australia[16]
The partnership was among the first instances of a crossover between a model and a fashion label. In 1989, when she was first approached by Bendon to promote their lingerie in Australia, Macpherson saw an opportunity to reverse their strategy and suggested a licensing arrangement, with products bearing her name and designs created in partnership with Bendon's team. Though commonplace now, the idea was unorthodox at the time.[17]
http://www.travelfreak.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/elle-macpherson-1920x1200-32847.jpg
Macpherson took a leading role in the development and management of the company, serving as Chief Marketing Officer and later Creative Director. In January 2010, Macpherson expanded the line, launching Obsidian as a sub-brand.[18] While nursing her second child, she spearheaded the development of a signature maternity bra line.[19] Intimates has retained a high brand recognition into the 2000s, appearing as a featured brand on America's Next Top Model; last year, the brand celebrated 10 years of being stocked at Selfridges.
Macpherson has also created her own line of beauty products: "Elle Macpherson – The Body". The line was carried at Boots,[20] and Australian suncare brand Invisible Zinc.[21]
In addition to her executive responsibilities at Elle Macpherson Intimates and The Body, Macpherson spent a year on the Board of Directors at Hot Tuna, advising on product development, brand positioning and sales strategy.[22] In March 2008, she signed a three-year deal with Revlon Cosmetics, which named her a Global Brand Ambassador.[23] She has since been featured in print and advertising campaigns for the company.
In 2007, the BBC TV series The Money Programme aired a documentary which followed Macpherson through her day-to-day business as she continued to develop her international lingerie business. In 2009 Macpherson delivered the Keynote Address at the annual meeting of the International Trademark Association.[24]
