Background

After winning, she travelled to Ecuador to compete in the Miss Universe pageant. She did not place in the top 15 and returned to Israel to work as a model. She eventually made the move to Hollywood and became an actress. Gadot married her boyfriend, Israeli businessman Yaron Versano, during the filming of Fast & Furious, on September 28, 2008. At the beginning of November 2011, Gadot and Versano welcomed their first baby girl, Alma. She is an avid motorcycle rider. She owns a black 2006 Ducati Monster-S2R. Also, Gadot served 2 years as sports trainer in the IDF.

In 2007, she took a part in the Maxim photo shoot "Women of the Israeli army," which focused on Israeli models who served in the Israel Defense Forces. Gadot's photo was on the invitation to the launch party, and she featured on the cover of the New York Post. Since 2008, Gadot has been a leading model for Castro, one of the largest Israeli clothing brands. Her height is 175 cm (5 ft 9 in). In April 2012, Shalom Life ranked her Number 5 on its list of “the 50 most talented, intelligent, funny, and gorgeous Jewish women in the world."[3]

Film and acting career

In 2008, Gadot played the lead in the Israeli drama Bubot ("Dolls"). She appeared in Fast & Furious alongside co-stars Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, having beaten six other actresses for the role.[4][5] In 2010, Gadot had a small role in the action-adventure Knight and Day, which starred Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. Earlier in the same year, she had a small role in the movie Date Night as Natanya, Holbrooke's (Mark Wahlberg) Israeli girlfriend. April 2011 brought her back to the The Fast & the Furious franchise, reprising her character in Fast Five. In May 2013, Gadot again played Gisele, in Fast & Furious 6.

Felicia Day

http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSPuspoyFIpnSZzWOCO8B0IbMcD5AnMfrokiLeJL3ZqoVznn_b7
Kathryn Felicia Day[2] (born June 28, 1979[1]) is an American actress and writer. She played the character "Vi" on the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and acted in movies such as Bring It On Again and June, as well as the Internet musical, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and currently has a recurring role as Charlie on Supernatural. She is the star, writer, and producer of the original web series The Guild, a show loosely based on her life as a gamer. She also wrote and starred in the Dragon Age web series Dragon Age: Redemption. Day was a member of the board of directors of the International Academy of Web Television beginning December 2009 until the end of July 2012.[3][4]

Early life

Day began her acting career at the age of 8 when she starred as Scout in a local production of To Kill a Mockingbird. She studied operatic singing and ballet professionally, performing at concerts and competitions nationwide. Home-schooled throughout much of her childhood, she began college at the age of 16.[5]
She was a National Merit Scholar (1995)[6] and graduated as valedictorian of her class.[5][7] An accomplished violinist,[5] Day was accepted to the Juilliard School of Music but chose to attend the University of Texas at Austin on a full scholarship in violin performance. She double majored in mathematics and music performance.[7][8] She is also an avid player of a wide variety of video game genres. Much of her work on The Guild web series was based on her personal experience with video games.[9]

Career

Early career

After graduation, Day moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. She landed several roles in various short and independent films, as well as commercials and guest spots on television shows, including Undeclared and Maybe It's Me. These parts propelled her to larger roles: a part in the film Bring It On Again, the starring role in June, and a recurring guest spot as potential Slayer Vi on television's Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a recurring role that is still occasionally utilized in that show's eighth season comic book series.

The Guild

Felicia Day with The Guild co-star Wil Wheaton at w00tstock in 2011.
Day is the creator, writer, and star of The Guild,[10] a web series which started airing its sixth season in October 2012. The first season was primarily hosted on YouTube where it garnered millions of views.[11] Its second season premiered on Microsoft's three major video channels Xbox Live, MSN Video and The Zune Marketplace after Microsoft made a deal with The Guild, allowing Day, her cast, and her crew to be paid for their work. Day also created a song and music video called “(Do You Wanna Date My) Avatar”, featuring the cast dressed up as their in-game personae. The final moments of the music video itself also detailed that the release date for the 3rd season of Day's The Guild would be August 25, 2009. A second song and Bollywood style video “Game On” was released prior to the premiere of the 4th season of The Guild. A third video (their most recent to date) called “I'm the One That's Cool” features the members of the cast in the guise of an alternative band performing at a local venue, intercut with scenes of the cast as younger versions of their characters experiencing bullying at the hands of “cooler” and more popular kids while at school.
The Guild has won multiple awards, including the Greenlight Award for Best Original Digital Series Production at the South by Southwest festivals,[12] the YouTube Video Award for Best Series,[13] the Yahoo! Video Award for Best Series,[14] and 2009 Streamy Awards for Best Comedy Web Series, Best Female Actor in a Comedy Web Series, and Best Ensemble Cast in a Web Series.[15]

Geek & Sundry

In March 2012, Day announced that she would be launching a premium YouTube channel, "Geek & Sundry," on April 2.[16]
Geek and Sundry took over production of The Guild for Season 6. Day hosts several shows on Geek & Sundry, most notably The Flog, Vaginal Fantasy, Felicia's Ark, and Co-Optitude.
Day is a recurring guest on Wil Wheaton's Tabletop and is also billed as an executive producer for the series.

Other work

In July 2008, Day starred as Penny in the three-part web-based musical Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (created by Joss Whedon, who also created Dollhouse and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, in which Day had parts).[17] Day was featured as a patient in the episode "Not Cancer" of the medical drama House,[18] and had a guest starring role in the sci-fi drama Dollhouse's unaired episode "Epitaph One",[19] as well as its series finale "Epitaph Two."[20] In 2008, Day was featured in a series of commercials for Sears Blue Crew.[21][22] She also appeared in the first of the revitalized Cheetos commercials.[23] In the series Lie to Me, on the episode called "Tractor Man", airing December 14, 2009, Day sang a song called "White Lie" alongside Brendan Hines.[24] Day starred with Kavan Smith in the Syfy film adaption of the Little Red Riding Hood saga, called Red,[25] produced by Angela Mancuso.[26] Day also played the continuing role of Dr. Holly Marten in the Syfy channel's original series, Eureka, appearing in 18 episodes during the last two seasons of the show. Felicia Day has also played the role of 'Gorgol' in the popular web series 'MyMusic' directed by 'The Fine Brothers.'
Day also starred in Guild co-star Sandeep Parikh's web-series The Legend of Neil, in which she portrayed a Fairy. She sings in the second season musical episode, in which she obliquely references her history of Internet musicals.
Day lent her voice to the character Veronica Santangelo in the video game Fallout: New Vegas.

Called Dragon Age: Redemption, it is based on the Dragon Age video games made by BioWare[27] and aired on October 10, 2011.[28] Day plays an elf named Tallis, and returns as the voice and model for the character in the Dragon Age II downloadable content "Mark of the Assassin".
In January 2012, Day announced that she would be hosting a Google+ Hangout called Vaginal Fantasy. The Hangout features Day along with Kiala Kazebee, Veronica Belmont, and Bonnie Burton. Every month they discuss lady-leaning paranormal and historical adventure books.[29]

In April 2012 it was announced that Day will host the 2012 IndieCade Awards Ceremony on October 4, 2012.[31]
On April 29, 2012 she also appeared on the YouTube show MyMusic as a Norwegian Black Metal singer named Gorgol.[32] She guest starred in the second season of the Jane Espenson scripted web series, Husbands.[33]

Freida Pinto

Birthday: 18 October 1984, Bombay, Maharashtra, India [now Mumbai, Maharashtra, India]
Height: 5' 6" (1.68 m)
http://actresswtf.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Frieda-Pinto-HusbandBoyfriend.jpg

Biography

Freida Pinto traversed the modeling circuit in Mumbai [represented by Elite Model Management India] for two years before gaining her big break when director Danny Boyle picked her out in the audition process to play the female lead, Latika, for his project Slumdog Millionaire (2008). In a promo interview, Boyle likened spotting her to his discovery of Kelly Macdonald for Trainspotting.

Early life and modeling career

Pinto was born into a Mangalorean Catholic family in Mumbai.[2][3] Her surname is of Portuguese origin as the result of her ancestors' conversion to Catholicism by missionaries.[4][5] Her mother, Sylvia, is the principal of St. John's High School (Goregaon), and her father, Frederick, is a senior branch manager at the Bank of Baroda.[6] Pinto has an elder sister, Sharon, who is the associate producer of NDTV, a news channel.[7] Pinto aspired to become an actress since she was five years old.[8] When she was ten, Sushmita Sen won Miss Universe 1994, which inspired the former to become an actress and turned out to be a defining point in her life.[9][10] Pinto studied at the Carmel of St. Joseph School in Malad, Mumbai, where she actively participated in sports and sang in the school choir. She completed a degree in arts with a major in English literature, and minors in Psychology and Economics, from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai.[8][11][12]
Pinto is an accomplished dancer in Salsa and Classical Indian dance.[1] She acted in plays and amateur theatre while attending college.[10] Later she joined the Elite Model Management and modeled for two-and-half years.[8] Pinto was featured in several television and print advertisements endorsing products such as Wrigley's Chewing Gum, Škoda, Vodafone India, Airtel, Visa, E-Bay and DeBeers.[6] She modeled for four years and appeared in runway shows and magazine covers including Femina and FNL.[6][7] She learned acting from "The Barry John's Acting Studio" in Andheri, Mumbai where she was trained by theatre director Barry John.[1]

Before her entry into films, Pinto anchored Full Circle, an international travel show which was aired on Zee International Asia Pacific in English from 2006–08.[13] During this time, Pinto visited countries such as Fiji, Malaysia and Thailand.[6] By that time Pinto auditioned for numerous films, all of which turned out to be unsuccessful. Later in an interview while being questioned about her rejections she added, "I'm glad things happened the way they happened. I needed to be rejected, and I needed to learn that it's part of the game... I can have 100 rejections, but I'm sure there's going to be one particular thing that is almost destined for me to have".[14] She received a call for Slumdog Millionaire;[15] she was short-listed and finally selected to star in the film.[11] Directed by Danny Boyle the film starred Dev Patel, Anil Kapoor, and Irrfan Khan alongside Pinto. Pinto played the role of Latika, the love interest of the lead character, Jamal.[16] The film premiered at the 33rd Toronto International Film Festival, where it won the Cadillac People's Choice Award.[17] Slumdog Millionaire turned out to be a sleeper hit, receiving universal acclaim,[6] mainly for its plot and soundtrack. It emerged as the most successful film at the 81st Academy Awards winning eight of the 10 nominations, including major categories such as Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay.[6] The film also gained nominations at various award ceremonies including the Golden Globe Awards, where it won four awards. Pinto herself was nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the 2009 BAFTA Awards.[18] In addition, she won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture alongside other cast members from the film.[19][20]
Pinto next starred in Woody Allen's comedy-drama film You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, alongside Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Anupam Kher and Naomi Watts.[21] The film premiered at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, receiving negative reviews.[22] Pinto played a minor role as the character Dia.[23] She next appeared in the 2011 science fiction film Rise of the Planet of the Apes, a reboot of the Planet of the Apes series, where she played Caroline, a primatologist, and was cast opposite James Franco. Pinto played the central character in her next production Miral, a biographical film based on a novel by Rula Jebreal. The film opened to negative reviews. A review from East Bay Express noted, "Pinto handles the central role with a certain dignity, but the real drama is in Miral's rejection of violence in favor of Hind Husseini’s (Abbass) example of education and negotiation."[24] Following that, Pinto starred in 2011 fantasy-action-drama film, Immortals, in which she played the oracle priestess Phaedra.[25] The same year, she played "Princess Lailah" in the 1930s-set period drama film Black Gold; she was cast alongside Antonio Banderas and Mark Strong.[26]

Trishna and the future (2011–present)

In 2011, Pinto starred in Michael Winterbottom's British drama film Trishna alongside Riz Ahmed; she played the titular character in the film. An acclimatization of Thomas Hardy's novel Tess of the d'Urbervilles, the film first premiered at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival. Described by The Guardian as a "seductive, allegorical study of male-female relationships",[27] the film features Pinto as the daughter of a peasant who falls in love with a London-based hotelier, played by Ahmed.[28] Unlike her previous films, Trishna gained positive response from critics.[29] The film was universally acclaimed as it was nominated for the Best Film Award at the London Film Festival and Grand Prix at the Tokyo International Film Festival.[30]
Pinto's forthcoming release, Desert Dancer is a biographical drama film that revolves around the life of a dancer. Pinto underwent rigorous dance training consisting of eight hours of rehearsals a day lasting for 14 weeks, as demanded by the role.[31] As of 2013, she is scheduled to act with Christian Bale in Knight of Cups,[32] and the romantic thriller NH10, which marks Pinto's Bollywood debut. The film, which began filming in March 2013, has since been delayed.[33]

Media image and personal life

Soon after the release of Slumdog Millionaire, Pinto garnered immense popularity and was frequently included in the "Most Beautiful Women in the World" list. In 2009, she was featured in People magazine's "Most Beautiful People List",[34] and "List of World's Best Dressed Women".[35] The same year, Daily Telegraph reported that Pinto was the highest-paid Indian actress, although she never appeared in a Bollywood film.[36] She was also included in Vogue's 2009 list of the "top ten most stylish women".[37] On 13 May 2009, Pinto became a new spokesmodel for L'Oréal.[38] A controversy arose when she appeared in a TV commercial promoting L'Oreal, as many thought it to be racial discrimination from countries that are possessive about fair skin. The commercial showcased Pinto in what many perceived to be a lighter skin tone due to make-up or editing.[39] In 2010, she was featured in the "Top 99 Most Desirable Women" poll conducted by Askmen.com.[40] Two years later, People named her one of the "Most Beautiful at Every Age".[41] The following year, Pinto was voted the "Hottest Indian Chick" in a controversial poll conducted by GQ.[42]
Before making her film debut Pinto was engaged to former publicist Rohan Antao; the relationship ended in January 2009.[43] After that she started dating her Slumdog Millionaire co-star Dev Patel. Since then the couple have been living together in Los Angeles.[44] Later in an interview, Pinto stated that she does not want to act with Patel as she feels they will not be able to meet out the "chemistry" they had in their debut film.[45] Pinto was criticised for having "shunned" the Indian film industry.[46] However, she claimed that she is unable to find roles that suit her in Bollywood. She also stated that she enjoys watching Bollywood films and is keen to act in future.[47]
Pinto joined Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf in support of their philanthropic organisation, the "Agassi Foundation". She is the only Indian actress to have participated in their annual fund raiser titled, "The 15th Grand Slam for Children", aimed at raising funds for the education of underprivileged children.[48] In 2013, she appeared in a video clip for Gucci's "Chime for Change" campaign to raise funds and awareness of women's issues in terms of education, health, and justice.[49] In April 2013, Pinto collaborated with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim for the Call to Action – Girl Rising campaign. The documentary film Girl Rising made by Academy Award nominee Richard E. Robbins, showcases the power of education in transforming girls' lives around the globe.[50]
