Isha Koppikar

Eesha Koppikar (born 19 September 1976), born Isha Koppikar, is an Indian actress and model who has appeared in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films. Koppikhar married her boyfriend Timmy Narang on 29 November 2009.

 

Koppikar was born in Mumbai, India. She has one younger brother. Eesha graduated in Life Sciences at Ramnarain Ruia College in Mumbai. It was during her time at college that she appeared in a photoshoot for Indian photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha. The shoot led to work in advertising as a model, notably for L'Oréal, Rexona, Camay, Tips & Toes and Coca-Cola. Eesha contested the 1995 Miss India contest, winning the Miss Talent Crown.^[1] Her modelling work gave her an introduction to the film industry and to her first film appearance in the Tamil movie Kaadhal Kavithai in 1998.^[1] Since then, Eesha has made over forty films and has several Hindi films in production or due for release in 2010. She continues to model for fashion designers Anita Dongre and Pria Kataria Puri, and is currently the Indian representative of the Italian fashion company Police Watches and Jewellery. Outside her work in film, music and television, Eesha is a spokesperson for the animal rights organisation PETA^[2] and received the 10th Anniversary Huminatarian Award in December 2009.^[3] She has a black-belt in Taekwondo.^[4] She recently showcased her Taekwondo skills in front of her master where she demonstrated self-defence skills.

South India

The 1997 Hindi film Ek Tha Dil Ek Thi Dhadhkan, directed by Shahrukh Sultan, is often quoted as being Koppikhar's first film, but there is no evidence the project was ever released.^[1] Her career must therefore be said to have begun with the 1998 Tamil film Kaadhal Kavithai, co-starring alongside Prashanth, and directed by Agathiyan, with music by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja. She was awarded the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. Continuing her Tamil film career, Koppikhar's second movie was En Swasa Kaatre in 1998, opposite Arvind Swamy, directed by K. S. Ravi, with music by renowned music director A. R. Rahman. 1998 saw a third film, this time a cameo appearance in Praveen Kanth's Jodi, starring Prashanth and Simran Bagga.

In 1999, Koppikhar alternated between appearances in the Telugu comedy Chandralekha, co-starring Nagarjuna and Ramya Krishnan, directed by Krishna Vamshi; and the Tamil gangland movie Nenjinile, starring Vijay and directed by S. A. Chandrasekhar.

By 2000, Koppikhar's sights were on Bollywood, but this did not stop her appearing in four Kannada films: Hoo Anthiya Uhoo Anthiya with Ramesh and directed by Praveen Naik, with music by Karthik Raja; Nuvvu Vasthavani, starring and directed by Ravichandran; alongside actor-director Ravichandran again in O Nanna Nalle; and finally Surya Vamsha, directed by S Narayan and starring Vishnuvardhan in a double role as father and son.

After four films in 2000, and a detour to Mumbai for a brief appearance in Fiza and an item number in Rahul, Koppikhar returned to the south in 2001 for Sundar C's Tamil project Kaathal Solla Vanthen. This was another film never to leave the development stage although a soundtrack of the same name was made available. However, the Telugu comedy Prematho Raa, starring Venkatesh and Simran Bagga, and directed by Uday Shankar, saw Koppikhar's penultimate South Indian role. She signed off her South Indian career in the Tamil action film Narassima, directed by Tirupathisamy and starring Vijayakanth.

Bollywood 2000–2002

Taking time out from four Kannada films in 2000, Koppikhar appeared alongside Karisma Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan in Khalid Mohamed's Fiza. An item number appearance in Prakash Jha's Rahul completed Koppikhar's introduction to Hindi film. Brief returns to South India in 2001 were coupled with Koppikar's proper Bollywood debut in a small supporting role in Rajiv Rai's Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat, starring Arjun Rampal and Sunil Shetty. Koppikar was paired with Shetty in the film. Her next release was K. Raghavendra Rao's urban comedy Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiyaa, opposite Govinda, Juhi Chawla and Johnny Lever. By 2002, Koppikhar appeared to be consigned to support roles until she was asked by Ram Gopal Varma to appear in an item number for his underworld movie Company starring Ajay Devgan, Vivek Oberoi and Manisha Koirala. The number in question was Khallas, choreographed by Ganesh Hegde and the effect on cinema audiences and critics was to leave her with the enduring nickname Khallas Girl. A second notable item number, Ishq Samundar, in Sanjay Gupta's Reservoir Dogs remake Kaante, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Sunil Shetty, was enough to raise her profile and in the following year she took the Stardust Award for Most Exciting New Face for Khallas.

. Koppikhar's career produced five films in 2003. In Dil Ka Rishta, directed by Naresh Malhotra, she played opposite Arjun Rampal and Aishwarya Rai, marking Koppikar's second appearance with Rampal. Prawaal Raman's portmanteau film Darna Mana Hai saw her alongside college whipping boy Aftab Shivdasani. Dr Chandrakprakash Dwivedi cast her in the role of Urmila Matondkar's sister in the sectarian film Pinjar, also starring Manoj Bajpai. A brief appearance in J. P. Dutta's war movie LOC Kargil paired her opposite Sunil Shetty again. And in Harry Baweja's Qayamat: City Under Threat, she played one of three terrorists fighting off co-stars Ajay Devgan and Sunil Shetty; a role which would bring her a Filmfare nomination in the Best Villain category.^[5]

In 2004, Koppikhar's films were releasing on average every two months. Both Mani Shankar's science fantasy Rudraksh and Kundan Shah's madcap comedy Ek Se Bhadkhar Ek teamed her next to perennial acting partner Sunil Shetty. In Krishna Cottage, she was cast opposite Sohail Khan for Santram Verma's creepy ghost story. Inteqam, directed by Pankaj Parashar and co-starring Manoj Bajpai, saw her revive the role played by Sharon Stone in the original Hollywood version: Basic Instinct. Another cameo appearance in Kunal Kohli's Hum Tum with Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji could have left a comedy taste to 2004, but this would be the year of street protests following Karan Razdan's controversial Girlfriend, co-starring Amrita Arora and Aashish Chaudhary caught in a lesbian love triangle. The film provoked public poster burning and calls for the film to be banned.^[6]

In 2005, she eased up somewhat only releasing four films. Sangeeth Sivan's bawdy comedy Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, with Anupam Kher, Ritesh Deshmukh and Tusshar Kapoor saw her nominated in three separate award ceremonies (IIFA, Zee Cine Award and Star Screen Awards) for best comedy role.^[7] Two more comedies saw her make guest appearances: David Dhawan's Salman Khan vehicle Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?, and Abbas-Mustan's whodunit, 36 China Town with Akshaye Khanna and Kareena Kapoor. A return to Ram Gopal Varma's Factory saw her alongside Chunky Pandey in Vishram Sawant's gangster flick D: Underworld Badhshah, starring Randeep Hooda.

Farhan Akhtar directed a 2006 remake of the Amitabh Bachchan hit Don: The Chase Begins Again, this time with Shahrukh Khan in the lead. Koppikhar was cast as Khan's girlfriend 'Anita'. By now the success of Don was in contrast to her stuttering career with a string of films stuck in production or abandoned. Vicky Ranawat's Haseena Smart Sexy and Dangerous crept out towards the end of 2006, Jagdish A Sharma's murder mystery Garhee appeared on DVD, Hansel Mehta's Raakh was dropped, whilst Koppikhar's highest profile film of 2007, Nikhil Advani's multi starrer Salaam-e-Ishq, saw her sharing limited screen time with Sohail Khan. Ram Gopal Varma's much discussed Shabri, directed by Lalit Marathe -a role which led to her being unrecognised in character and barred from the film set by security men^[5]- has yet to attract a distributor. Later in the year came the haunted love triangle of Ram Gopal Varma's Darling, with Fardeen Khan and Esha Deol. Koppikhar's first film release of 2008 was Atul Agnihotri's Hello, based on the novel One Night in a Call Centre by Chetan Bhagat. This was followed within weeks by Ek Vivaah... Aisa Bhi, a Rajshri Production directed by Khashik Ghatak and co-starring Sonu Sood. She has had three films released in 2010, Jahnu Barua's Har Pal, Right Yaaa Wrong by Neeraj Pathak and Manoj Tiwari's Hello Darling.

Her latest release is Shabri (2011) directed by Lalit Marathe where she plays a women gangster of Mumbai.^[8]

Eesha Koppikar has signed for Marathi Movie titled ‘Maat’.Where she is playing lead role, The movie is produced by Manali Mangesh Sawant under the banner of Saayali Dream Ventures, and will be directed by Manohar Sarvankar.The film also stars Sameer Dharmadhikari. MAAT story revolves around an ambitious couple passed through different stages of life, different colors of life.^[9]

Other works

Between filming Koppikhar, like many Bollywood actors, performs in stage music shows. In addition to this she has appeared in two music videos: Patli Kamar by KK for a private album commissioned by Sony in 2001/2002; and Bandish Projekt's Bhor (Satyam Shivam Sundaram) in 2004, choreographed by Bosco-Caesar. In 2006 she appeared onstage in the Indian Idol Grand Final to dance with the two finalists, and 2007 saw her as one of three judges in the celebrity dance competition Nach Baliye3, alongside director David Dhawan and Vaibhavi Merchant. She served as a judge in the Miss Universe 2008 contest, held on 14 July in Vietnam alongside, amongst others, fashion designer Roberto Cavalli and former winner in 2004 Jennifer Hawkins.

In 2008, prior to her taking on her married name, she adopted a second spelling change to her name from Ishaa Koppikar to Eesha Koppikhar, following the advice of numerologist Niraj Mancchanda.^[10]

In August 2009, Koppikhar presented the new Colors wrestling show 100% De Dhana Dhan.

Personal life

After a prolonged 10-year affair with Inder Kumar both broke off.^[11] He then got married to Sonal, the daughter of Raju Kariya,^{[citation needed]} a marriage that lasted just five months. Both Isha and he patched-up after the divorce but the relationship did not last too long.^[12]

Leena Mogre and Preity Zinta introduced her to hotelier Timmy Narang,^[13] both clicked, dated for about a year, got formally engaged in a glittering 'Ken and Barbie' party;^[14] followed by a Sangeet ceremony at Worli's Mayfair on November 27; and on November 29, 2009, tied the knot at Juhu's Hare Krishna Mandir in the presence of close friends and relatives. The wedding was performed in traditional Maharashtrian style at approximately 11 a.m., lasted about 4 hours, followed by a reception at the Narangs' residence.^[15]

Hema Malini

Hema Malini (born 16 October 1948) is an Indian actress, director and producer, Bharatanatyam dancer-choreographer, a politician. Making her acting debut in Sapno Ka Saudagar (1968), she went on to appear in numerous Bollywood films, most notably those with actor and future-husband Dharmendra and with Rajesh Khanna.^[2][3] Malini is regarded as one of the greatest and most influential actresses in the history of Indian cinema.^[4] She was initially promoted as "Dream Girl", and in 1977 starred in a film of the same name.^[5] During this period, she established herself as one of Hindi cinema's leading actresses, noted for both her comic and dramatic roles, her beauty, and her accomplished classical dancing.^[6][7][8]

Malini is among the most successful female film stars in the history of Indian cinema.^{[7][9][10][11]} Appearing in over 150 films in a career span of 40 years, she has starred in a large number of successful films, and her performances in both commercial and arthouse cinema, were often recognised.^[7] During her career, she has been nominated 11 times for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress, of which she won once in 1972. In 2000, she was presented with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. In the same year, she was honoured with the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honour, by the Government of India.^[12] In 2012, the Sir Padampat Singhania University conferred an Honorary Doctorate on Malini in recognition of her contribution to Indian cinema.^[13] She also served as the Chairperson of the National Film Development Corporation. She was awarded the prestigious "SaMaPa Vitasta Award 2006" in Delhi by SaMaPa – "Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts" by Music Legend Pandit Bhajan Sopori for her lifetime contribution and service to Indian culture and Dance.

Of late Malini spends most of her time on charitable and social ventures, while making occasional appearances in films. She is a member of India's Bharatiya Janata Party and was nominated member by the party in Rajya Sabha, the upper House of parliament during 2003–2009

Hema Malini Chakravarthy was born into a Tamil speaking Iyengar Brahmin family^[15][16] in Ammankudi, Tiruchirappalli to V.S. Ramanujam Chakravarthy^[17] and Jaya Chakravarthy on 16 October 1948.^[1] Her mother was a film producer. Malini was the youngest of the three children and has two brothers.^[18] She was not interested in academic studies but enjoyed history, her favourite subject in school.^[18] She was educated at Andhra Mahila Sabha in Chennai.She studied at DTEA Mandir Marg till class 10 but did not complete class 10 when she got acting role.^[17]

Some of Bollywood's most popular actors like Sanjeev Kumar and Jeetendra have proposed to Hema Malini.^[19][20] In her authorised biography, Hema Malini mentions she almost accepted Jeetendra's proposal, but later backed out.^[19] Unable to tolerate the rejection, Sanjeev Kumar was reportedly driven to alcoholism and remained unmarried till his death in 1985.^[19]

Hema fell in love with her co-star Dharmendra during the filming of Sholay.^[21] She eventually married him in 1980. Before they married, they both converted to Islam, though the conversion was nominal and for convenience only; Hema remains a strong practising Hindu^[22] since Dharmendra was married to Prakash Kaur^[23][24][25] who refused to divorce him. Apart from Sholay, the Dharmendra-Hema pair appeared together in films like Seeta Aur Geeta, Dreamgirl, Charas and The Burning Train. After her marriage she became the step-mother of Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, both popular actors in Bollywood. She has two daughters with Dharmendra, Esha Deol (born 1981) and Ahana Deol (born 1984). Her elder daughter Esha is a well-known actress in Bollywood who married a diamond merchant Bharat Takhtanj, on 29 June 2012:^[26] while her younger daughter Ahana is an aspiring director^[27] who worked as an assistant director to Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his film Guzarish (2010).^[28][29]

Hema Malini's niece is actress Madhoo who had starred in films Phool Aur Kaante (1991), Roja (1992)^[30] and Annayya

Hema Malini is a trained Bharatanatyam artist. Her daughters are well trained in the same dance form; the three have performed together at charity dance concerts.^[40][41] Malini is also trained in Odissi by Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra. Her refulgent smile eased her portrayal of a wide range of characters ranging from the fiery Narasimha to a graceful Rama in Tulasidas's Ramcharitmanas.^[42] In 2007, she performed in Mysore on the eve of Dussera, where she played the roles of Sati, Parvati and Durga.^[43] She had performed at the Khajuraho Dance Festival with her daughters.^[44]

In 2003, she played the role of Goddess Durga in television serial Jai Mata Ki, directed by Puneet Issar and aired on Star Plus.^[45] She then starred in the title roles of twin sisters in the Sahara One serial Kamini Damini. She directed and starred in the television serial Noopur, in which she played the role of a Bharatanatyam dancer.^[31] She owned the editorship of New Woman, a Hindi woman's magazine.^[46][47] In 2000 she was appointed as the first-ever woman chairperson of the National Film Development Corporation for three years.^[17][48] She owns a dance school, Natya Vihar Kalakendra.^[49]

In 2007, she was signed by Kent, a mineral water purifier system, as its brand ambassador.^[50] She is one of the three brand ambassadors of Pothys, a textile showroom in Chennai (the others being Sudha Ragunathan and Trisha Krishnan).^[51]

Constance Marie

 

Constance Marie Lopez (born September 9, 1965)^[1] is an American actress. Known professionally as Constance Marie, she is known for her role as Angie Lopez on George Lopez (2002–2007) and for her role as Marcella Quintanilla (mother of Selena) in the 1997 film Selena. She currently portrays Regina Vasquez on the ABC Family drama Switched at Birth.

At the age of 19, Marie appeared as a dancer in the musical Cosmopolis by composer Ryuichi Sakamoto in Japan. When she returned to Los Angeles she was spotted in a club by a dance choreographer for David Bowie. She was chosen out of 500 dancers to tour with David Bowie on his 1987 worldwide Glass Spider Tour.^{[citation needed]}

Marie's acting career also began when she was in her teens. She landed a spot in the movie Salsa. Other credits include Early Edition, Dirty Dancing, Selena, Spin City, The Underworld, and Ally McBeal. Marie was chosen for the role of Angie Lopez on the TV comedy series George Lopez. Marie then took on the part of Yolanda in the 2001 film Tortilla Soup. She also appeared in the series American Family. In October 2007, she launched her own clothing line, "The Constance Marie Collection".^[2] The same year, she appeared in an ad for PETA, encouraging people to spay and neuter their pets.^[3]

Marie has a starring role on the ABC Family drama Switched at Birth, playing the birth mother of one of the girls and legal mother of the other girl.

Personal life

Marie is engaged to yoga instructor Kent Katich. They have a daughter named Luna Marie (born February 5th, 2009).^[4]

Christine Helen Lakin was born on January 25th, 1979 in Dallas, Texas. After moving several times as a child, her family finally settled in Atlanta, Georgia, where Christine started her acting career. There, she attended the Atlanta workshop players - a theater group which plays in schools in the Atlanta metro area. Her first audition was for a TV-commercial - "Got Milk?!", and after not getting that job, she didn't have to wait long for her next opportunity, which was the part as the young Rose in the civil-war flick The Rose and the Jackal (1990) (TV), which also starred Christopher Reeve. In 1991, she took her first step towards big fame and landed the role as the tomboyish Al on the Friday night hit "Step by Step" (1991).
During the sitcom's long run, Christine gracefully grew up, graduated from high school in 1997 and made various appearances on other television shows. When "Step by Step" (1991) was cancelled in 1998, Christine, while attending UCLA and majoring in film, looked for other film roles. She landed jobs in independent films such as Big Monster on Campus (2000) and Finding Kelly (2000). Whatever It Takes (2000) was Christine's first wide theatrical film release. Since then, she has had a slew of independent coming-of-age films along with guest appearances on such hit shows as "Boston Public" (2000), and "Opposite Sex" (2000). Still attending UCLA and handling a film career, Christine is managing to do what few child actors tend to do, which is continue 

 

Awards and nominations

She was nominated in 1993 for a Young Artist Award for Best Young Actress Starring in a Television Series and in 1994 for another Young Artist Award for Outstanding Youth Ensemble in a Television Series shared with Josh Byrne, Christopher Castile, Brandon Call, Staci Keanan and Angela Watson - both for Step by Step (1991). She also won a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Screen Couple with Paris Hilton in The Hottie and the Nottie.

LA Weekly Theater Awards

• 2009: Won the award for Female Comedy Performance for the Havok Theatre Company production of "Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead"^[6]

Ovation Awards

• 2012: Nominated for Featured Actress in a Musical for the role of Julia in the Troubadour Theater Company production of "Two Gentlemen of Chicago"^[7]

247°F Actor 247°F is a suspense thriller directed by Levan Bakhia and Beqa Jguburia. Cast members include Scout Taylor-Compton, Travis Van Winkle, Christina Ulloa, Michael Copon and Tyler Mane. It was filmed in Tbilisi, Georgia and wrapped in July, 2011.[1] It received its first international release date in Georgia on 1 September 2011. The film is about a group of friends who get trapped in a sauna.[1] 247°F will be released on UK DVD and Blu-ray on the 18th March, from Anchor Bay Entertainment.[ Jenna (Scout Taylor-Compton) gets into a car accident with her boyfriend, Jamie, who eventually dies. Three years later, while coping with her past tragedy, Jenna is invited to stay for the weekend in a lakeside cabin by her best friend Renee (Christina Ulloa). They are joined by Renee’s irresponsible boyfriend, Michael (Michael Copon), and his friend, Ian (Travis Van Winkle), and sail off at Ian's uncle, Wade's (Tyler Mane) lakeside cabin. They are greeted by Wade along with his friendly dog, named Beau. They settle in the cabin and plan on attending a party, since there is a festival happening around the nearby town at night. Jenna goes to her room and refuses to take her pills so she could have fun with her friends. While they all eat dinner, Wade mentions how he may not be around while they are away since he has work to do. The group gets fascinated when they stumble inside a sauna Wade built. While they enjoy spending time inside, the temperature gets warmer and they decide to swim at the lake. Trembling in cold, they all head back inside the sauna. Meanwhile, Michael gets high from the marijuana Wade had given to him, where Renee rebuffs his sexual advances. This upsets Michael and gets out of the sauna. As the temperature continues to rise, Renee ultimately decides to leave but the door is blocked from the outside. The trio think it is just one of Michael's pranks since they all know he's mad at Renee, which they don't find amusing. They soon realize that they are trapped in the sauna and attempts to break a small window on the door, injuring Ian's hand. They all take turns gasping for air as the temperature raises even higher with another unsuccessful attempt to unblock the door from the outside. The group then finds a hidden controller which they all can't risk destroying, since Ian believes it would just alter the temperature. Meanwhile, Wade is seen handling the fireworks for the festival with another guy, when Beau tracks the trio's scream, begging for help, from the back of the house. Michael shows up at Wade's and both disregard Beau's barking. Michael clearly thinks the three left him and attended the party, since he couldn't help himself from getting high. The two hang out and start a conversation as Michael explains that he wasn't permitted to catch up at the party with the group since he didn't have a ticket and returned home. Back at the sauna, the situation transcend as the group runs out of water to drink and Renee getting sick from the hot temperature. Renee ultimately decides to break the controller, thinking it would lower down the temperature, but is stopped by Jenna. Renee starts yelling at her where Jenna inadvertently hits her head with a rock, which falls her unconscious. Jenna starts freaking out and decides to break the controller herself, which turns out to heat up the whole sauna. Ian turns hysterical and burns his body to prevents the steamer from heating which blows up, killing Ian. At this point, Jenna is able escape the sauna but in reality, she was just hallucinating. She gets back on the unconscious but still alive Renee and lets her near the window so she could breathe. Michael, unaware of his friends trapped in the sauna, gets back to the cabin where flashbacks shows him to the scene where he left the sauna earlier. It shows how Michael was so intoxicated that he inadvertently knocks down equipment near the door which ended up trapping his friends inside. Meanwhile, Wade arrives at the cabin and discovers the two girls, alive, in the sauna. The paramedics arrive and take Jenna and Renee in a stretcher as they hold hands.
